Sail along the Nile, from south to north, up from Aswan, for 900 km, to Luxor and visit, on land, the archaeological treasures of the Valley of the Kings and the temple of Luxor.

Live a unique experience on the boat 'Dahabeya', the famous gold sailboat that has made the history of this river. Eiaru travels slowly and in no hurry. Due to its slim design, it can dock in locations where larger ships cannot. Lying comfortably on the deck chairs, arranged in a bridge, you get to Luxor, passing by the temple Philae, Kom Ombo (center of the cult of the crocodile god), Esna and Karkak.

DAY 1

Arrival in Cairo via a scheduled flight from Milan or Rome, followed by another flight to Aswan.Welcome at the airport and boarding on the Eyaru. Overnight on board.

DAY 2

In Philae, which can be accessed only with small motor boats that are located on site, there is a visit to the temple called the pearl of the Nile where pilgrims and warriors have passed to venerate the figure of the virgin of ancient Egypt, Isis.  In Aswan, for those who wish, time for shopping along the streets of the market. Full board and overnight on board.

FROM DAY 3 TO DAY 5

Start of navigation along the Nile aboard the Eyaru that will take you, for the next 3 days, to Esna. About 50 km after Aswan, surrounded by sugar cane plantations, is Kom Ombo, built on the site of the ancient city of Pa-Sebek, the seat of Sobek, center of the cult of the god-crocodile.
The days will pass with the navigation on the great river Nile, and provide the stops to the major and minor sites along the coasts. The Dahabeya offers the possibility to reach the major sites in the days of less crowding and also to visit the smaller ones where large cruise ships cannot dock. You can visit the Great Temple of Horus and in Esna, you will reach the Ptolemaic temple consecrated to the God Khnum, the god head of a ram, who created men with clay shaping them on his potter’s wheel. Meals and overnight stays will be on board the Dahabeya.  

DAY 6 

Visit to Luxor, the Valley of Kings and Artisans, the tomb of Ramses VI, formed by a central aisle that leads to a lobby, which leads to a room with pillars, and, through a second aisle, to another lobby that leads to the hall of the sarcophagus, and the Valley of the Queens with the exclusive visit to the tomb of Nefertari. In the evening you will visit the temple of Luxor in the center of the city on the east bank of the Nile which is one of the most fascinating monuments of ancient Egypt.  Dinner and overnight on board.

DAY 7

Departure in the direction of the temple complex of Karnak, probably the largest monumental complex ever built, Karnak is the most important site of Pharaonic Egypt. You will cross the avenue of the royal rams that will allow you to access the large pylon of Karnak to continue to the large courtyard that collects several monuments of different Egyptian eras. At the end of the visits it is planned to return aboard the Eyaru for lunch. In the afternoon visit to the interesting archaeological museum of Luxor and time available for visiting the market. Dinner and overnight on board.

DAY 8

After breakfast transfer to the airport and departure with flight to Cairo. Continuation with flight to Milan or Rome. For technical and operational reasons, the itinerary may be modified by the on-site guide if deemed necessary and in the interest of the group.

 

The scheduled flights chosen for this itinerary are operated by the national airline EGYPT AIR and the travel program has been developed according to the current schedule of the carrier. Any changes in time may result in changes to the travel itinerary. Egypt Air scheduled flights depart from Rome Fiumicino and Milan Malpensa, with two separate aircraft. From both airports there are two daily flights.
